Will's First MARATHON

A few months ago, Will decided he wanted to run a full marathon. He actually wanted to run the Savannah Marathon in Sept, but we knew Ruthie would only be about a month old and that Will would be having to do some really long training runs in the heat of the summer at the beach. So, he instead set his sights on the Kiawah Island Marathon in Charleston in December. Well, despite the birth of a daughter, the loss of a nephew, the loss of Chick-fil-A, and five weekends of traveling to Clemson for football games, Will kept at his training with very few breaks. So, on December 9, all four of us went to Kiawah for the weekend. We ate dinner at the provided pasta buffet (which was delicious, although I felt a bit guilty eating all that pasta when I was NOT running anywhere the next day... but that didn't stop me) and went to sleep in our nice little oceanfront condo. The next morning Will got up and headed down to the race start (it was within walking distance), while the kids and I hung out at the condo. After having breakfast and watching Ice Age on TV, we got dressed and headed down to the finish line to cheer Daddy on.

Ruthie turned lots of heads with her new hat.

And finally, after 3 hours and 52 minutes of running, Will completed his first full marathon! (26.2 miles, if you were wondering...)
